I made this card at the weekend , before starting to watch Altenew Academy’s latest class Creative Watercolor Media. I am hoping this class will improve my watercolor technique, as this isn’t a media I have used much.
I stamped the out line images from the Beautiful Day Stamp Set with versamark ink and embossed the images in white.
I was inspired by Seven Hills Crafts May colour challenge for the colour combination and used the third set of colours.
I then used Altenew inks from Red cosmos (for the big flower), Tropical forest (for the big leaves), Shades of purple and Green fields (for the bunches of smaller flowers). I smooshed these inks onto an acrylic block, before using a paint brush to colour in the images, having wet the paper first. I then let the images dry before coming in again to add some more definition.
ALTENEW has some beautiful stamp sets and the mini ink cubes are a very affordble way to collect a range of inks. I love that the sets are perfect for using with their stamp layering set, but it was great to use one of the stamp sets and the inks in a different way giving a very different look. I also stamped one of the layer images on the envelope. I didn’t use either of the beautiful sentiments from the stamp set on this card. I felt it didn’t need a sentiment. I just finished it off with a strip of glitter washi tape along the bottom and some gems.
